Goodbye Yesterday: The Chosen Few

It's funny how when I have several projects "going" at the same time, I manage to add a few more (as if I don't have enough to do)...? I call this "productive procrastination"...! Where I delay on my "things to do" list and avoid feeling guilty by accomplishing other tasks that are non-related...and not listed! We all do this! Kinda' like...saaaay, you have a paper to write and you can't seem to make yourself sit down to do it? Sooooo, instead, you end up cleaning your entire house? Yeah! That's what I am talking about! What I need to do is to practice (reversal) productive procrastination, where I make a list of things to do that aren't as important as others, then I will naturally end up doing the ((more)) important things while I procrastinate on the ((not as important)) things I listed!!! That way, I will (in a 'round about way) end up doing what really neeeeds to be done! Yeah! That's what I should do!!! I am so smart!

I think I smell one of those "stinky kudzu bugs"...? Seriously, I do...? How did that f*#%er get inside? Whoops, sorry...double productive procrastination, back on the subject! Focus...focus...

Okay...so I have been organizing shit (including cleaning out my computer of old photographs, files, etc.) and I have gotten to my self-portraits! Hey, I am an Artist...would you expect otherwise? I don't know an Artist who hasn't done a few...or several...or a ton! Frida Khalo always comes to mind when I think of self-portraits! Not that I am comparing anything that I do with Frida...not in the least! There will never be another Frida...

Anyway, photography (for me) has always been a "quick fix" creative stimulus! If I am not painting, constructing or writing, I am usually taking photographs! Either or, I have always said, "as long as I am using (that) side of my brain, I am happy"...! Well, the self-portraits have been wonderful...lots of expressionistic fun-fun (It's always fun-fun to use the word fun-fun), but I think it is time to retire them? Ya know, out with the old, in with the new kinda' thang? So what better place to retire them too than on my blog...?

Ah-Ha! There's that stink bug! I knew it! He is crawling on my arm! I must have been sitting on him or something because he threw me a stink bomb! I must do something with this bug...hmmmm...I will be right back...!

Okay...I took care of stinky-face, now...back to the "The Chosen Few"...

When I was 10 years old, my Grand-pa-pa gave me his old camera...I never put it down. I have always enjoyed portraiture because I like the challenge of removing myself from...myself...! I like to re-visit my inner self through expression...! The picture above is my very first "self-portrait" taken in 1986.

Taken by my Daughter when she was 10 years old. We were camping on the beach in Cape San Blas, Florida. This picture was taken 12 years ago...
